The Flower Power Hour with Ken and MJ currently streams on 70 radio stations in 10 countries. It’s a flashback to the golden age of flower power, featuring music primarily from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. The show is dedicated to the vibe of that era: peace, love and rock ’n’ roll.
Artists including Donovan, Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, Jorma Kaukonen of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna, Roger McGuinn of the Byrds, Richie Furay of Poco and Buffalo Springfield, Nancy Wilson of Heart, Jim McCarty of the Yardbirds, Rick Wakeman of Yes and dozens of others have endorsed the show. Their liners and interviews give it a level of credibility not often heard on other shows of this type. Woodstock co-creator Artie Kornfeld also is a frequent contributor.
Ken Rundel’s extensive radio experience includes early stops at WVIC in Lansing, Michigan, and W4 in Detroit. He next joined the legendary album-rock station “The Zoo” in Dallas, where he was program director and hosted the No. 1-rated midday show. Other stops included Q-102, KZPS, KOAI, KRBE and KXCC in Texas, as well as the ABC Radio Classic Rock Network, where he was the top-rated jock in listener surveys. Ken also has been an attorney, actor, improv comedian and instructor.
MJ grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, listening to heritage album-rock station KSHE-95. Her extensive knowledge of rock ’n’ roll and her talent as an artist gave her backstage access to early icons of album rock, including Cat Stevens, Alvin Lee, Jon Anderson, Donovan, Randy California, Elton John and Ian Anderson. Her posters graced dressing room doors of many of the greats. Her broadcasting career began in 2006 as co-host of the Ken and MJ Show on Radio Free Phoenix.
